VS Young Drake

Woohoo! First ever entry for #DrawWithJazza's contest!

I was finally able to join Jazza's contest since the theme for this month is actually my forte. I've always specialized on drawing people, you see. So... yeah.

Enough about my issues. This piece is an age swap of Elite Four Drake from the Pokemon franchise (Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald and Pokemon OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire). I've had a bit of trouble choosing a character, since my favorite Pokemon characters are all middle-aged men and women. And then, I remembered Drake... he's my favorite Elite Four member in the Hoenn Region! I was like, "Why not go for Drake? He's already an aged man. I bet he already looked hot even when he was still ten." And so, I came up with this!

This is a fake VS battle screenshot of the game. I followed Diantha's VS screen for the format, but used a scaly background instead, to signify that he uses Dragon-type Pokemon. When drawing, I always aim for the Sugimori-style when I draw my artworks, but with my limited knowledge of image-editing softwares, I ended up with something that's a cross between Sugimori-style and Adventure Time-style artwork.

Drake's childhood was undocumented, so I assumed that before becoming a ship captain (aside from being an Elite Four member), he was an ordinary dock worker that already befriended a few Dragon-type Pokemon after being rescued by one when he was much younger. I drew him wearing something a usual dock worker wears (I think): a tattered straw hat, a blue scarf, grey belt, light blue pants, and grey leather boots. I still followed the color scheme of his current wardrobe so as to stay faithful to his original design.

P.S. Great. Now I also wanna draw the rest of the Hoenn Elite four as ten-year-olds. No worries, though. Drake will stay as my official entry for Jazza's contest. I guess I'll wait for this contest to be over before I do the rest of them.
